Job description

Summary
Do you want to have a significant impact on how work is done at Apple? Radar is used by

every major organization across Apple to help teams organize and track their work. As

Apple’s primary tool for defining, tracking, and testing issues, Radar has been used for

decades across various teams, including hardware and software engineering. It serves as a

unified platform for bug tracking, test case management, and product management, facilitat-

ing seamless coordination among team members. The Radar Engineering team at Apple

seeks an early-career Quality Engineer to build the tools that raise the quality of Radar’s apps

and platform.

Description
As a Quality Engineer for Radar, you will be a software engineer who builds the tools that

make Apple’s platform for product development, bug tracking, and work management better

with every release. Radar is a high-traffic, business-critical system used by teams across all of

Apple, and the quality of each release is felt by engineers company-wide.

You will join a growing team distributed across California, Texas, and Ireland. In our highly

collaborative environment, you will work closely with a team of passionate builders to deliver

end-to-end features critical to Apple’s engineering workflows. You will receive structured

mentorship, comprehensive training in Apple’s development practices, and the support to

learn and develop your skills quickly.

You will design and build tools, frameworks, and services that improve the quality of Radar’s

apps and platform, and write the tests that prove it. You will find and fix the gaps that let

bugs through, and learn how a platform at this scale remains stable while constantly

evolving. As you ramp up, you will take on increasing ownership of quality tooling, contribute

to test strategy, and help bring new technologies onto the platform.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build tools, frameworks, and services that improve the quality of Radar’s apps and platform.
  • Write, run, and maintain automated tests for Radar’s services and apps, and keep regression suites healthy.
  • Perform manual testing, verify user-reported issues, and run exploratory testing.
  • Write clean, well-tested, maintainable code, and participate in code reviews.
  • Find, document, and track bugs, and verify fixes.
  • Work with engineers to review features and specs for testability early in development, and collaborate on bug reporting, analysis, and resolution.
  • Contribute to test plans and release readiness.
  • Follow and help improve the team’s quality best practices.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Solid programming skills in Python, Java, Swift, or similar language, with a good grasp of object-oriented design, data structures, and algorithms.
  • Understanding of software testing fundamentals and test design.
  • Experience with version control (Git) and a working understanding of the software development lifecycle.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience building developer tools, internal services, or test frameworks.
  • Experience with test automation frameworks for APIs, web, or native apps, such as XCTest or Selenium.
  • Experience testing REST APIs.
  • Exposure to running tests in CI/CD pipelines.
  • Interest or experience in agentic workflows, MCP integrations, or AI-assisted testing tools.
  • Ability to triage problems, prioritize accordingly, and propose a resolution.
