Job description
At Bloomberg Enterprise Data, we’re fast-paced, innovative and growing. Our deep expertise in financial markets and technology enables us to work closely with clients to understand their business, workflow and data needs.
With an extensive range of datasets across asset classes, flexible delivery technologies and tailored scheduling, we provide clients with the precise data they need, when and how they need it. Simply put, our award-winning data powers the capital markets.
Data License+ (DL+) is a growing part of Bloomberg’s Enterprise Data business. DL+ is Bloomberg’s next-generation Data License platform, providing a managed service that brings Bloomberg data together in a standardized data model for more consistent and efficient consumption across clients’ systems and workflows.
What's the role?
We’re looking for an experienced Product Manager to help shape and grow DL+.
This role sits at the intersection of clients, data and technology. You’ll work closely with Engineering, Product, Sales, Product Specialists, Operations and clients to understand evolving market needs and translate them into a clear product strategy and roadmap.
You’ll own a defined area of the platform: setting the strategic product direction, identifying the most important client and market problems to solve, and defining the outcomes we want to achieve. You will partner with Engineering and other teams to turn those outcome priorities into solutions that deliver measurable value for clients and the business.
The ideal candidate combines strong product management experience with an understanding of enterprise data and the evolving needs of buy-side and sell-side firms. You’ll be comfortable moving between strategic thinking, client discovery, data and technical discussions, and execution.
We'll trust you to:
- Own the strategy, outcomes and priorities for a defined area of DL+, with clear accountability for the what and why
- Develop a deep understanding of client workflows, market dynamics and competitive trends to identify the highest-value problems to solve
- Develop a strong understanding of the DL+ platform, its components, including how new content and capabilities affect the broader model and client experience
As a Product Manager on the team, we’ll expect you to manage the end-to-end product lifecycle, including:
- Discovery: Identify and validate client and market problems using qualitative and quantitative evidence
- Product design: Translate validated problems into a clear and compelling product narrative, defined outcomes and product requirements
- Refinement: Partner with Engineering to translate desired outcomes and product requirements into feasible solutions, features and delivery plans
- Execution: Work with Engineering to establish shared objectives (OKRs) and incremental progress metrics to track progress, success measurements and proactively make informed trade-offs as new information emerges
- Go-to-market: Partner with Commercial, Product Specialists, Operations and other stakeholders to ensure products and capabilities are ready for successful launch and adoption
- Product Viability: Leverage feedback loops to use adoption rates, client satisfaction and other success measures to evaluate product performance and inform future priorities
- Build strong communication channels across Product, Engineering, Sales, Operations and other internal/external teams - share product strategy, progress, decisions, risks and next steps clearly and concisely to senior stakeholders
- Continuously improve product management practices that strengthen accountability, decision-making and delivery across the team
- Foster a culture of delivery excellence, ownership, learning and focus on measurable outcomes
You’ll need to have:
- Product Management or business experience, ideally within financial services, enterprise data, FinTech or a similarly complex B2B technology environment
- Demonstrated experience owning outcomes, including defining objectives, priorities, key results and measuring success
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to understand complex problems, identify customer pain points, validate opportunities and use evidence to make decisions
- Experience partnering closely with Engineering and technical teams to deliver complex products and platforms
- Sufficient technical fluency to engage effectively on data and platform topics; experience with technologies such as SQL, Python, APIs and cloud platforms is beneficial
- Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills, including the ability to simplify complex topics and influence across teams and levels
- Strong judgment and the ability to manage competing priorities, make trade-offs and maintain focus on the outcomes that matter most
We’d love to see:
- Knowledge of securities markets and the trading lifecycle, including typical front-, middle- and back-office functions
- Knowledge of asset classes such as equities, fixed income, derivatives, indices and mortgages, and an understanding of their attributes and lifecycles
- Familiarity with financial data, including reference, pricing, FX, entity, research and OTC data
- Experience with data modelling or data platforms within financial services
- Experience building enterprise data products, managed services or platform products
- An interest in meeting clients and prospects, understanding their workflows and implementation challenges, and partnering with a global sales organization
- The ability to develop a strong point of view on the evolution of enterprise data and translate that perspective into product opportunities
- Passion for building products that solve complex client problems at scale
