JOB DESCRIPTION

JPM Payments is seeking an Executive Director, Corporate Development & Partnerships to help accelerate strategic growth through disciplined transaction execution and high-impact commercial partnerships, working in close partnership with Payments product, technology, finance, legal, risk, and regional stakeholders.

As an Executive Director within the Payments Corporate Development & Partnerships team, you will help identify, evaluate, and execute M&A, strategic investments, and commercial partnerships that strengthen our product and technology roadmap, expand distribution, and improve client outcomes. You will operate as a senior individual contributor (not the head of the group), leading deal workstreams end-to-end—from origination and diligence through structuring, approvals, and post-close execution planning—while coordinating cross-functional stakeholders and engaging external counterparties.

Job responsibilities

  • Support Corporate Development & Partnerships leadership in translating strategy into actionable M&A, minority investment, and commercial partnership priorities.
  • Collaborate with Payments business leaders to identify third-party solutions that address product or technology gaps.
  • Manage day-to-day pipeline execution (screening, prioritization support, governance materials, and tracking decisions/outcomes).
  • Source, evaluate, and advance acquisition, investment, and partnership opportunities, including maintaining external relationships.
  • Lead and/or oversee financial modeling, valuation, and business case development; prepare executive-ready materials.
  • Drive key components of transaction execution in partnership with Legal and other functions (diligence coordination, approvals, structuring support, and closing).
  • Coordinate cross-functional workstreams across Product, Technology, Finance, Legal, Compliance, Risk, and regional stakeholders; escalate issues and decisions as needed.
  • Support post-deal and post-partnership execution planning, including operating model considerations, KPIs/benefits tracking, and governance cadence.
  • Manage relationships with select commercial partners and/or portfolio companies, including performance reviews, issue resolution, and expansion opportunities.
  • Ensure adherence to applicable regulatory requirements, risk frameworks, and firm policies by engaging control partners throughout the lifecycle.
  • Maintain market intelligence on payments/fintech and regulatory developments to inform sourcing and evaluation.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Experience in corporate development, strategic partnerships, investment banking, corporate finance, venture/PE, or related transaction-focused roles.
  • Strong understanding of startup engagement and the early-stage investment and partnership landscape.
  • Demonstrated success developing and executing commercial partnerships that accelerate product and/or technology strategy.
  • Strong financial modeling, valuation, and analytical skills; experience creating investment/partnership memos and executive materials.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with and influence senior stakeholders; capable of advising executives with appropriate escalation and alignment.
  • Strong consultative problem-solving skills, sound judgment, and attention to detail.
  • Willingness to travel globally as needed.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Knowledge of global payments and transaction banking technology strongly preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams under tight timelines while prioritizing capital/expense considerations appropriately.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; high standards for professionalism and discretion.
  • Client-focused, collaborative team player with a strong work ethic.
