Job Description

Description Join our Robotics Delivery and Packaging Innovation International team, where we transform complex automation technologies into efficiently deployable solutions on a global scale. Amazon is seeking an experienced Manager to lead a team of Single-Threaded Leaders (STLs) who own end-to-end program planning, cross-functional orchestration, and delivery governance for complex automation infrastructure deployments across our international fulfillment network.

You will lead and develop a team of program managers who each own full lifecycle delivery of a technology program or cross-functional workstream — from capital approval and planning through deployment execution and steady-state handover. You will design the governance mechanisms, operating cadences, and scalable frameworks that enable your team to drive predictable delivery outcomes across multiple concurrent programs, countries, and stakeholder organizations.

You will influence within a VP organization, advise Senior Managers and Directors on deployment strategy, prioritization trade-offs, and program health, and actively grow the next generation of program leaders.

Amazon's culture encourages an entrepreneurial approach and expects engineers and managers alike to take a high level of ownership in solving complex problems in a fast-paced environment.

The role could be based in Berlin, Munich, Barcelona, or London with ~50% travel across Europe during deployment season, with occasional international travel.

Key job responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a team of program managers operating as Single-Threaded Leaders, each owning end-to-end delivery of a technology program or cross-functional workstream across planning, funding, deployment, and handover.
  • Own the team's operating model, governance cadences, and delivery mechanisms, designing scalable frameworks that drive predictable outcomes across multiple concurrent programs and geographies.
  • Drive cross-functional alignment across diverse stakeholder organizations including finance, operations, supply chain, site selection, and engineering to remove blockers and accelerate delivery.
  • Own capital governance and program prioritization for the team's portfolio, ensuring CARs, plans of record, and financial commitments are on track and aligned to organizational goals.
  • Build scalable planning mechanisms, launch readiness frameworks, and standard work that convert first-time program complexity into repeatable, predictable delivery paths adopted organization-wide.
  • Advise Senior Managers and Directors on program strategy, prioritization trade-offs, resource allocation, and risk mitigation, influencing within a VP organization on cross-functional program decisions.
  • Make trade-offs between short-term delivery needs and long-term sustainability using data-driven decision-making, metrics review, and clear RAG-based program health reporting.
  • Set the standard for program management excellence across the team, defining best practices for stakeholder management, executive communication, cross-functional coordination, and delivery rigor.
  • Grow and develop program managers through development planning, coaching, and strategic program assignment;
  • Identify and develop future program leaders through talent reviews and succession planning.
  • Author narratives, operational plans, and strategic documentation that frame the team's delivery impact and organizational value and present to sr. leadership.
  • Drive cost efficiencies and proactive risk mitigation across multiple concurrent programs before issues become roadblocks, escalating appropriately and ensuring the team delivers sustainably.

A day in the life

You will set the strategic direction for your team's program portfolio, making prioritization trade-offs and ensuring cross-functional alignment across diverse organizations. You will design governance mechanisms and operating cadences that give your team clear swim lanes and your leadership clear visibility into program health. During deployment seasons, you will coach your program managers through complex stakeholder negotiations and escalation decisions, capturing learnings into team-wide standards.

You will interact daily with diverse functional teams across multiple time zones and organizations - finance, operations, supply chain, engineering, and site selection. You will write effective narratives and present to Senior Managers and Directors, conducting regular meetings with internal teams, stakeholders, and vendors. You will build consensus on contentious prioritization decisions, communicate across an increasing diversity of areas (legal, regulatory, finance, operations), and provide the long-term perspective behind business and program choices. You will grow your program managers, run talent reviews, and ensure your team delivers results sustainably. No two days will be the same in our fast-paced environment, offering opportunities for professional growth as part of a collaborative, focused team.
