Job description

Join a globally diverse team that both builds and finds best-of-breed tools to bring critical Observability services to all of Adobe. Our team embodies DevOps, as our responsibilities range from crafting new tools and UIs to maintaining and supporting one of the largest logging deployments in the industry, in partnership with other observability tools.

We’re a close-knit team dedicated to providing a robust platform, supporting both Adobe’s engineering teams and each other. We need an experienced Engineering Manager to lead this team, grow its talent, and drive Adobe’s observability strategy forward.

If you enjoy building high-performing teams and solving complex tasks where it’s easy to draw a line from your team’s efforts to real accomplishments, come talk to us.

Job Requirements

10+ years of experience with distributed applications at scale in public and/or private cloud, including 3+ years managing engineering teams

Experience leading teams that architect and implement large-scale Observability platforms

B.S. degree in Computer Science or related technical field

Proven ability to hire, develop, mentor, and retain engineering talent in a diverse and distributed team environment

Must Have

Track record of leading teams operating internally hosted logging systems like Splunk, ClickHouse, Loki, Elastic, supporting clients and improving environment performance and stability

Demonstrated ability to drive ingestion cost optimization across a team through data-driven analysis, pipeline guardrails, and direct engagement with customer engineering teams to reduce unnecessary log volume

Strong understanding of OpenTelemetry — including collector configuration, pipelines, and instrumentation — and the ability to guide a team executing Adobe’s OTel-native observability strategy

Experience setting technical direction for AI agent development and integrating AI workflows into large-scale deployments; ability to steer teams building AI-assisted workflows that surface actionable insights from large log datasets and automate routine user interactions

Experience overseeing distributed environments with thousands of users

Familiarity with languages like Go and Python sufficient to provide technical leadership, review architecture, and guide engineers building integrations and applications for large-scale Observability environments

Experience guiding the design and implementation of systems for fault tolerance, scalability and stability

Experience leading teams that develop, deploy and run distributed applications on cloud platforms, including container and orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)

Ability to establish and manage on-call coverage across a multi-tool observability stack, ensuring the team can triage and resolve issues across platforms

Accountable for the highest level of up-time and Quality of Service to Adobe’s customers through operational excellence

Experience defining service level objectives and service level indicators to represent and measure service quality

Knowledge of (public and/or private) cloud deployments

Partner with SRE and Engineering/Product leadership to drive critical initiatives and align roadmaps

Experience overseeing the design and maintenance of production monitoring systems

Ability to coordinate resolution of performance and stability issues using a wide variety of tools

Excellent communicator in and across teams, driving projects and people to successful outcomes

Impacts the organization through ownership of technical direction, strategic decisions, and team planning

Responsible for performance management, career development, and headcount planning for the team

Good to Have

Experience guiding teams evaluating and prototyping alternative storage/processing backends (e.g., ClickHouse, Loki) as part of a longer-term platform cost reduction and scalability strategy

Experience with other Observability tooling like Grafana, Cortex, and Tempo

Familiar with a variety of cloud security and automation concepts, practices and procedures

Champion the DevOps/SRE approach across the organization

Experience managing budgets, vendor relationships, and cross-organizational stakeholder communication
