The Team
The EMEA Country Planning team is a Strategic Planning team that is embedded in the markets and acts as a strategic partner to country teams, connecting local priorities to regional and global direction. Each planner owns a portfolio of markets and builds a deep understanding of their business, slate, audiences and challenges, while holding a regional view across markets. Markets own their marketing strategies and decisions; the team brings the evidence, cross-market perspective and structured thinking that make those decisions stronger. With full visibility across both branded and unbranded title slates, the team also plays a pivotal role in planning the export of local titles and bringing global insights back to markets.
The Opportunity
The Country Planning Manager for Spain, Italy, and Turkey is a strategic partner to country leadership teams. The role combines market, audience, slate and performance intelligence to help markets decide where to focus, what to prioritize and what to stop doing. You will lead integrated planning across marketing levers, run regular Strategy Check-ins with each market, and orchestrate export campaigns for Spain's globally exporting slate. You will also bring local learning into regional thinking, champion the country perspective within the global organization, and help build the AI-enabled tools and frameworks that make this work scalable across EMEA.
This is a permanent FTE role reporting into the Director, EMEA Country Planning. The position will be based in Madrid.
Key Responsibilities
Market Context & Strategic Partnership
- Be a consistent strategic partner to the Spain, Italy and Turkey teams, adding a regional view to their local expertise.
- Bring together signals across slate, campaigns, audiences and performance to explain what is happening in each market, why it is happening and what to do about it.
- Advise on market-specific challenges and opportunities, ensuring strategies are tailored to the unique dynamics of each country.
Strategy & Prioritization
- Help markets make sharper choices on audiences, opportunities and investment, including where to go big and what to deprioritize. Markets keep ownership of their strategy.
- Support annual prioritization and turn the resulting choices into one integrated plan for the year.
- Run Strategy Check-ins two to three times a year, assessing what is working, what has changed and what to adjust.
Integrated Planning
- Lead the Integrated Planning Group in each market, bringing Media, Title Marketing, Publicity and Social together around a shared view of slate, audiences and performance.
- Plan marketing levers as one portfolio rather than campaign by campaign, and make deliberate trade-offs across it.
Export Campaign Planning
- Lead export planning for titles with a global audience, with a particular focus on Spain's exporting slate, identifying them early and using long-lead analysis of where each title can resonate.
- Align the home market and supporting markets on one title strategy, positioning and timeline, so the campaign stays consistent wherever it runs.
- Provide home territory teams with clear visibility into global support plans, timelines, and country nuances, and bring regional input into creative and activation ideas.
- Monitor early performance signals to flag reactive opportunities, and manage the handover of day-to-day launch and reactive support to Ops so execution stays tied to the strategy.
Regional Intelligence & Connectivity
- Spot patterns, opportunities and risks across markets, and raise early warnings on overcrowding, under-support or missed moments.
- Bring market evidence into regional strategy and leadership conversations, and represent Spain, Italy and Turkey in regional and global forums.
- Make strong local work and learning visible and reusable across EMEA, and facilitate communication among local, regional and global stakeholders.
Audience, AI & Innovation
- Contribute to audience measurement and discoverability work, including testing new approaches such as synthetic audiences and understanding how GenAI is changing the way people discover titles.
- Rethink how analysis and planning are done with AI, and help build shared tools, frameworks and processes that can be reused across markets.
Candidate Profile
- Brings significant experience in strategic planning, business strategy or consulting, marketing strategy, product, chief of staff or business partnership roles, ideally within a brand, consulting firm, or international media/entertainment environment. Experience working across Spanish and broader EMEA markets is highly valued.
- Demonstrates strong analytical judgment and a proven ability to synthesize data from multiple sources into a clear point of view that informs strategic decisions. Fluent with data and analytics tools, with a talent for translating complex information into compelling narratives for diverse audiences. Uses AI tools actively to accelerate analysis, challenge assumptions, and improve the quality of strategic work.
- Adept at building trusted partnerships across functions and geographies, with a track record of influencing stakeholders and aligning teams around shared objectives. Experienced in navigating matrixed organizations and managing relationships at all levels, including senior leadership.
- Understands the marketing campaign lifecycle, from strategy and planning through execution and performance analysis, and brings an audience-led approach to strategy.
- Proactively identifies opportunities to optimize workflows, processes, and tools to drive efficiency and scalability, and enjoys building reusable frameworks that scale across markets. Brings a solutions-oriented mindset and is comfortable implementing innovative approaches to complex challenges.
- Confident communicator with strong presentation skills, able to distill and share insights, business updates, and strategic recommendations with clarity and impact. Comfortable facilitating discussions and representing the region in global forums.
- Possesses a global mindset and experience working with diverse, geographically dispersed teams. Demonstrates cultural sensitivity and the ability to champion the Spanish, Italian, and Turkish perspectives within a global organization.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Thrives in ambiguity, demonstrating resilience, adaptability, and creative problem-solving skills.
- Fluent Spanish and English are required for this position. Italian and/or Turkish is a plus.
- Eager to contribute to and grow within Netflix’s unique culture, embracing curiosity, collaboration, and continuous learning.
