About Bolt
Bolt is shaping a future where cities are built for people, not cars. What started as an ambitious project of a 19-year-old in 2013 has grown into a global mobility platform used by more than 200 million customers and 4.5 million driver and courier partners across 50 countries.
From ride-hailing and food delivery to scooters, e-bikes, and car-sharing, Bolt helps people move through cities every day. Small, autonomous teams drive this work, combining the speed and ownership of a startup with the scale of a global technology company backed by more than €1bn in funding.
And we're just getting started.
Why join Bolt?
- Build the future of mobility and help transform how people live and move in cities.
- Tackle challenges at scale that span technology, operations, regulation, and growth.
- Take real ownership early. Small, lean teams mean your decisions matter from day one, and you'll learn fast alongside some of the best people in the industry.
- Join one of Europe's leading technology companies, backed by world-class investors including Sequoia.
About The Role
Bolt is looking for a bold and driven General Manager to lead our Rides business in Sweden. There's an entrenched incumbent, a demanding customer base, and a real opportunity for the platform that gets driver supply, pricing, and reliability right. Your job is to grow GMV — city by city, cohort by cohort.
With over 200 million customers in 50+ countries, Bolt is one of the fastest-growing tech companies in Europe and Africa. And it's all thanks to our people.
This is a unique opportunity to own one of Europe's most competitive ride-hailing markets, backed by strong central and regional support. You'll set the strategy for how Bolt wins in Sweden, build and coach the team that delivers it, and focus relentlessly on execution across Stockholm, Gothenburg, Malmö, and beyond. You should feel very comfortable with both zooming in and zooming out.
Sweden is also a market where the public conversation matters. Ride-hailing sits close to questions of labour, safety, and urban transport, and Bolt's standing with regulators, media, and the cities we operate in directly affects what we can build. You won't be handling licensing or legal filings — we have dedicated Public Policy and Legal teams for that — but you will be the face of the business in-market, the owner of those relationships, and the person who makes sure commercial decisions and our regulatory position stay aligned.
We're looking for someone who can own the P&L, think in cohorts and levers to build a hard value proposition, and bring sharp commercial instinct to everything from positioning to growth strategy. You'll need to be just as comfortable deep in the data as you are coaching a team or aligning with central stakeholders.
Main tasks and responsibilities
- Lead and grow Bolt Rides in Sweden across commercial, operational, and strategic dimensions — with a clear plan for taking share from the incumbent.
- Own the P&L line by line — driving revenue, improving margins, and ensuring strong unit economics as the business scales.
- Own the marketplace: driver supply acquisition, activation and retention, rider demand and conversion, pricing, utilisation, reliability and ETAs — and the trade-offs between them.
- Define the growth path through clear rider segmentation, city prioritisation, category strategy, and a differentiated value proposition against a well-resourced competitor.
- Build and develop top-performing teams across Strategy and Operations, Driver Operations, Marketing, and Support.
- Represent Bolt in-market: own relationships with regulators, city authorities, driver communities, media, and partners, working closely with our Public Policy, Communications, and Legal teams. You own the relationship and the narrative; they own the legal and licensing work.
- Define sharp OKRs, align cross-functional teams, and ensure delivery against priorities.
- Use AI & data tools (Mixpanel, Looker, Google Sheets) to identify key levers, track performance, and iterate fast.
- Collaborate across the central and regional matrix to unlock support, challenge assumptions, and drive impact.
About You
- Ideally, you have 4+ years of experience in general management, revenue development, or a high-growth startup environment.
- You're a strong commercial operator with deep business instincts and a bias for action — and you're energised rather than daunted by competing against a larger incumbent.
- You're analytical and data-driven — comfortable working with AI, dashboards, building spreadsheets, and spotting trends others miss. Marketplace or two-sided business experience is a strong plus.
- You're a people leader — capable of hiring, coaching, and inspiring teams to raise the bar.
- You're credible and composed in public-facing and sensitive conversations — with regulators, authorities, media, or driver communities — and you understand how a commercial decision can land politically.
- You bring strong stakeholder management skills, and you're experienced working in a matrix structure, influencing across regional functions and levels without direct authority.
- You're hands-on, structured, and thrive in fast-changing environments.
- You speak fluent Swedish and English and communicate clearly with both local teams and global stakeholders.
- Above all: you're highly driven, humble, and deeply accountable for outcomes.
Why you'll love it here
- Accelerate your professional growth with unique career opportunities.
- Enjoy a rewarding salary and stock options, knowing that as Bolt succeeds, so do you.
- Take care of your physical and mental health with our wellness perks.
- Celebrate 5 years at Bolt with a 1-month paid sabbatical to recharge.
- Connect with colleagues at annual company events and smaller team gatherings.
- Balance flexibility and in-person collaboration with our hybrid model, including at least 12 monthly in-office days.
Some perks may differ depending on your location and role.
At Bolt, using AI daily is a baseline expectation for everyone. If there's a faster, smarter way to do your work, we expect you to find it. You're still responsible for the output, so the standard stays high when using AI tools.
Experience is great, but what we really look for is drive, intelligence, and integrity. So even if you don't tick every box, please consider applying!
