Job description

Bloomberg’s Buyside Solutions offer a comprehensive suite of integrated tools that empower investment professionals globally. These include research management, order and portfolio management, as well as performance and risk analytics — all tailored to streamline workflows and enable precise decision-making across all asset classes.

Bloomberg enables firms to combine factor-based risk analysis with full revaluation risk, helping them understand the drivers of portfolio risk, assess sensitivities to market movements, and model the impact of historical, hypothetical and bespoke stress scenarios. These capabilities support workflows across front office, risk, middle office and collateral teams, including portfolio and benchmark-relative risk, factor and exposure analysis, liquidity risk, counterparty and credit risk, derivatives sensitivities, stress testing and risk reporting.

Powered by Bloomberg’s market data, pricing and valuation capabilities, the offering helps clients evaluate proposed investment decisions, monitor risk across portfolios and mandates, and manage exposures consistently across changing market conditions.

What's the role?

We are seeking an experienced pre-sales engineer with a deep knowledge of how asset managers, asset owners and institutional investors measure, manage and govern investment risk. You will need to understand not only how risk analytics are calculated, but how they are used throughout the investment lifecycle to support the success of the growing Buyside Solutions business. You should have knowledge across Bloomberg’s Risk solutions such as MARS and PORT SolutionsEnterprise, or relevant equivalent and be able to connect those capabilities to the broader Bloomberg Buy-Side proposition.

You will be collaborating closely with Enterprise Sales to combine risk domain expertise, client discovery and solution design, working directly with portfolio managers, risk teams, middle office, collateral and technology stakeholders to understand current workflows, operating models and future-state requirements. You'll be responsible for the delivery of pre-sales presentations and technical product demonstrations, supporting RFPs and POCs. To be successful, you will be required to maintain in-depth market knowledge and understanding of the trends within Buy-side risk.

We'll trust you to:

  • Collaborate with Sales teams to achieve sales targets by closely interacting with prospects and existing accounts in deeply understanding the customer’s operational needs and delivering the Bloomberg value proposition for Risk focused workflows.
  • Support strategic client engagements through discovery meetings at every stage of the sales life cycle to understand the customer’s strategic objectives and deliver exceptional POC’s and client demonstrations.
  • Work in a consultative framework identifying client challenges, articulating solution fit, and pitching tailored, value-driven propositions.
  • Work collaboratively with sales and product managers to communicate product gaps, industry trends, and competitive insights.
  • Assist in curating RFP/RFI responses coordinating with Operations, Sales, Product and Legal & Compliance teams to ensure timely and complete submissions.
  • Maintain an in-depth understanding of relevant products, services, and competitive landscape, including buyside operating models.
  • Partner with Implementation, Enterprise technology and Product on Solutions design and Target Operating Model for our more complex sales engagements.
Facilitate detailed information transfer from the sales process to the implementation team.

You’ll need to have:

  • Deep understanding of buy-side investment workflows and the requirements of risk, valuation, and middle-office functions
  • Knowledge of Bloomberg PORT and MARS solutions, or a relevant equivalent
  • 4+ years' experience in a client facing role such as pre-sales, project management, specialist relationship management or solutions architect
  • Knowledge of enterprise risk frameworks and regulatory requirements, including UCITS / AIFMD for asset managers and Solvency II / IORP II for asset owners
  • The ability to communicate complex financial and technical concepts clearly to both quantitative practitioners and senior decision-makers
Experience working with derivatives asset class including knowledge of Front-to-Back trade Lifecyle within the buy-side functions.

We would love to see:

  • Knowledge of APIs to support Enterprise workflows
  • A second European language
  • The ability to travel depending on client requirements
