Job description

Summary
At Apple, we work every day to craft products that enrich people's lives. Do you love working on challenges that no one has solved yet? Do you like changing the game?

Description
Apple Silicon Engineering Group is looking for a forward-thinking and unusually creative software engineering intern to help build the next generation of AI-driven hardware modeling.

Before circuits become silicon, they exist as software.

Our AMS Modeling Software team builds fast, accurate models of analog and mixed-signal circuits that drive the architecture, design and verification of Apple's world-leading systems-on-chip (SoCs).

We combine software engineering, machine learning and large language models (LLMs) to automate model creation, speed up simulation and scale validation.

Responsibilities

  • You will build the tools and AI-powered workflows that make this possible, and help shape the future of semiconductor design.
  • Design and develop production-quality software (Python and/or C++) for modeling analog and mixed-signal circuits such as SerDes, PLLs, memory interfaces and data converters. You will work with AI coding agents while owning design decisions, code quality and the correctness of the final code.
  • Build machine learning surrogate models and the data pipelines behind them, trained on circuit simulation and silicon measurement data, so that system-level simulation is fast and accurate
  • Develop LLM-powered and agent-based workflows that automate the modeling process, from generating models out of specifications to code translation, test generation and documentation generation.
  • Build automated frameworks that check model accuracy against circuit-level (SPICE) simulations and silicon measurements, and speed up models through GPU acceleration, parallel execution and model order reduction
  • Work closely with system architects, circuit designers and verification engineers to turn specifications and design intent into software and ML solutions, and write clear documentation covering usage, accuracy bounds and limitations

Minimum Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in your first year of studies in a CE, EE, or related field (Bachelor's, Master's or PhD).
  • Available for 6 months or more

Preferred Qualifications

  • Available for 6 months or more

At Apple, we're not all the same. And that's our greatest strength. We draw on the differences in who we are, what we've experienced, and how we think. Because to create products that serve everyone, we believe in including everyone. Therefore, we are committed to treating all applicants fairly and equally. We will work with applicants to make any reasonable accommodations.

At Apple, we believe accessibility is a fundamental human right. You’ll find that idea reflected in everything here — in our culture, our benefits and our digital tools. By welcoming as many perspectives as possible, we help you build a career where you feel like you belong.
