Job Description

Description Amazon's EMEA Direct Tax Reporting & Compliance team is scaling fast — and we're building the next generation of tax operations with AI-driven automation - not spreadsheets. Join us in Munich as a Senior Tax Analyst and help drive direct tax compliance for one of Amazon's most complex and highest-growth entity portfolios in Europe.

  • You'll own tax reporting and compliance for a portfolio of Amazon's German and EMEA legal entities, working directly with cross-functional partners across Accounting, Legal, and Transfer Pricing
  • Be part of a team actively deploying GenAI and automation tools to modernize how tax compliance gets done at scale
  • Gain exposure to high-complexity, high-visibility work: statutory filings, tax authority correspondence, audits, and cross-border restructuring projects
  • Work in a fast-paced environment with real ownership, real impact, from day one
  • Munich-based role with direct collaboration across a globally distributed EMEA tax team

Key job responsibilities

Working within the EMEA Foreign Reporting & Compliance team, the Senior Tax Analyst will:

  • Prepare and review foreign income tax returns, tax filings, and supporting work papers for EMEA legal entities
  • Prepare and review foreign income tax provisions under IFRS and/or Local GAAP
  • Prepare and review estimated tax payments and local income tax payments
  • Support income tax accounting and reporting under US GAAP for SEC reporting purposes
  • Support international tax controversy teams during tax audits and authority correspondence
  • Partner with Accounting, Transfer Pricing, and other stakeholders to ensure accurate, timely tax reporting
  • Drive process improvement and automation initiatives across the tax reporting and compliance lifecycle, including the use of Artificial Intelligence
  • Support regular reporting of key metrics to Management
  • Participate in special projects, including tax due diligence and integration support for M&A

About The Team The Amazon Tax department is a fast-paced, collaborative, high-ownership environment. The EMEA Foreign Reporting & Compliance team manages the worldwide tax-related filings and local tax reporting compliance of Amazon's foreign entities — a portfolio growing in scale and complexity as the business expands across the region.

  • We pair deep tax technical expertise with a strong focus on process improvement and automation, including AI, to modernize tax compliance
  • Team members collaborate closely with Accounting, Legal, and Transfer Pricing across multiple countries
  • Our Teammembers own their portfolio of entities and jurisdictions from day one — good ideas get implemented here, not just discussed

Basic Qualifications

  • Knowledge of strong understanding of tax compliance principles, regulations, and reporting requirements across jurisdictions
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or related field, or a Bachelor's degree and experience in tax, finance or a related analytical field
  • Experience a direct tax role in a multinational and/or professional organization
  • Speak, write, and read fluently in German and English at C1 level or above

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience liaising with tax authorities including responding to audits and information requests
  • Experience managing multiple projects and priorities across teams in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Experience with written and verbal communication and presentation
  • Master's degree or equivalent professional qualification in tax (e.g., Steuerberater) or a related field
  • Experience with German corporate income tax (Körperschaftsteuer) and trade tax (Gewerbesteuer) compliance and reporting
  • Experience with German tax filing software (e.g., DATEV, DefTax) and e-Bilanz submission processes
  • Familiarity with income tax provisions under IFRS and/or Local GAAP (HGB), and exposure to US GAAP income tax reporting for SEC purposes
  • Strong computer skills including MS Office; experience with tax technology, automation tools, or AI-driven process improvement
