Senior Solution Engineer - Cloud & AI Infrastructure

Are you curious, enthusiastic about infrastructure, and ready to solve complex challenges in the Frontier AI era? Join us as a Cloud & AI Infrastructure Solution Engineer for Germany's leading banks, insurers and financial service providers at Microsoft.

In this technical sales role you will help Financial Services customers modernize their Platform Estate — hardware, software, applications, databases, security and networking — and realize the full value of Microsoft's cloud. Working directly with technical and business stakeholders, you will design secure, scalable, resilient, compliant and sovereign architectures that carry business-critical banking and insurance workloads and support AI transformation. As a trusted technical advisor you will guide customers and win the technical decision on Azure solutions and their deployment.

You lead customers through modernization using the 6R strategy, containerization best practices and Azure-native services such as AKS, and you bring deep expertise in migrating core workloads — Windows, Linux, SAP and Oracle — to Azure. You explore how Agentic AI and tooling such as Azure Copilot, GitHub Copilot and Agentic Assessment can accelerate that transformation.

You complement this with strong networking knowledge to design hybrid and cloud-native solutions, including virtual networks, VPNs, secure routing architectures and trusted partner solutions that keep highly regulated environments secure, optimized and scalable.

Responsibilities

• Lead Platform Estate modernization and Sovereign Cloud engagements with banks, insurers and financial service providers.
• Drive technical workshops using live demos, and co-create with customers through whiteboarding, architecture design, rapid prototyping, hands-on proofs of concept and pilots to resolve technical blockers.
• Prove technical solutions and re-use or co-create reference architectures to influence solution design and secure customer commitment to production deployments.
• Partner with the account and specialist teams to build qualified pipeline and convert uncommitted opportunities into committed, consumed Azure workloads.
• Maintain deep expertise in cloud migration (Windows, Linux, SAP, Oracle, VMware and application workloads), resiliency, security and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• Multiple years of technical pre-sales or technical consulting experience
• OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND few years technical pre-sales or technical consulting experience
• OR Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND few years technical pre-sales or technical consulting experience
• OR equivalent experience
• Proven experience in cloud infrastructure, including migration of Windows, Linux and virtualized workloads to Azure.
• Strong understanding of Azure services, including networking, security, compliance and hybrid cloud scenarios, with experience designing hybrid networking and secure connectivity in enterprise environments.
• Proven ability to lead technical engagements (prototyping, pilots, proofs of concept) that drive production-scale outcomes, with hands-on experience across Windows Server, Linux, Azure Kubernetes Service, Defender for Cloud and GitHub Copilot or comparable agentic tooling.
• Proficiency in English and German is required (C1 or higher) as the client portfolio is predominantly German-speaking.

Preferred Qualifications

• Few years of experience with cloud and hybrid, or on-premises infrastructure, architecture designs, migrations, industry standards, and/or technology management
• Experience in regulated financial services environments (banking, insurance, payments) and familiarity with frameworks such as DORA, BaFin/MaRisk, EU Data Boundary and operational resilience requirements.
• Familiarity with enterprise platforms such as SAP and Oracle, and ISVs such as NetApp, VMware and RedHat.

Solution Engineering IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across Germany is € 102,100.00 - € 176,200.00 per year. Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
