The Role
Join us to shape the future of software in the underserved and high-impact HR technology industry. Your work will have a direct and tangible impact on customers, offering ownership and the chance to make a meaningful difference. As we prepare for significant growth, you'll face exciting challenges and have the opportunity to influence our path toward becoming one of the world's leading tech companies.
Security is a priority at Personio
.
We’re looking for an experienced
Security Operations Engineer
to join our Security organization and help us build detection and response that scales with the business. You’ll own our detections as code, build the SOAR automations and data pipelines behind them, and use AI where it makes triage and response faster, while also securing the AI agents and integrations we adopt.
What You’ll Do
- Detection as code: Design, deploy and maintain high-quality detections on our SIEM platform, managed through Git with peer review and CI/CD.
- Security automation: Build enterprise-scale SOAR workflows and the integrations behind them, using AI where it makes triage and response faster.
- Alert quality: Tune noisy or underperforming alerts, and measure whether AI-assisted triage is accurate enough to trust.
- AI security: Secure AI agents and integrations (e.g. MCP) with least-privilege access, and guard against prompt injection and data exposure.
- Firefighting rotation: Act as the Security Team’s on-duty representative, answering inquiries from across the business and responding to urgent matters.
- Incident response: Lead and support Security Incidents and Post Mortems, coordinate responders across Security, Engineering, IT and Support, and drive follow-up improvements.
- Threat hunting and playbooks: Proactively hunt for signs of compromise, and keep detection and response playbooks current with new insights and automations.
What You Need To Succed
- 5+ years in Cyber Security: Working knowledge of threat detection, incident response or similar functions, plus a BS in Computer Science, Information Security, or equivalent professional experience.
- Security automation and AI: Experience designing enterprise-scale SOAR workflows (e.g. Tines, n8n) and AI-driven security operations, with Python or Go skills to build the integrations behind them. You enjoy writing scripts and tooling to automate operational tasks.
- Security data pipelines: Experience collecting, normalising and enriching logs from many sources into consistent schemas (e.g. OCSF), and managing data volume, retention and cost so detections stay reliable and affordable at scale.
- Detection as code: Hands-on Git and GitHub/GitLab skills, including managing detections and automation as code through peer review and CI/CD pipelines.
- Threat landscape knowledge: Familiarity with threats facing cloud-based apps and SaaS providers, and with adversary TTPs (MITRE ATT&CK) and how to spot them in activity logs.
- Incident leadership: Confidence leading large Security Incidents, coordinating responders across Security, Engineering, IT and Support, and giving executive-style updates to stakeholders.
- Communication: Excellent written and spoken English, with the ability to adapt your message for executive, technical, customer-facing and non-technical audiences.
