Job Description

Who you are

  • Leadership Experience: 5+ years managing and scaling agile software engineering teams with a track record of developing strong engineering talent
  • Technical Expertise: 10+ years building large-scale web applications, ideally in the SaaS space, with expertise in cloud-hosted, customer-facing products. Enough hands-on experience to evaluate architectural tradeoffs, assess delivery risk, and challenge assumptions when needed
  • Execution Excellence: Demonstrated ability to lead teams that deliver predictably, maintain high quality, and improve velocity over time
  • Product Sensibility: Experience with product discovery, delivery, and iterative improvement in fast-moving environments
  • Cloud & Platform Skills: Strong understanding of cloud architectures (e.g., AWS, GCP), distributed systems, and modern dev-ops practices
  • Communication: Outstanding ability to partner across functions, explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, and align teams on mission-critical outcomes
  • Growth Mindset: Demonstrated ability to adapt to ambiguity, pivot when needed, and motivate teams to own outcomes in high-growth contexts
  • Modern Stack Experience: Familiarity with Go, TypeScript/React, and backend APIs
  • Data & Analytics: Experience building or managing data-intensive dashboards, analytics infrastructure, or event-driven systems
  • Product-Led Growth (PLG): Prior involvement with growth/revenue-impacting engineering initiatives (e.g., onboarding funnels, feature adoption metrics)
  • Security & Privacy Awareness: Understanding of security considerations and compliance (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, SOC 2) that underpin SaaS platforms
  • Dev Infrastructure: Experience with CI/CD, testing frameworks, monitoring/observability tooling, and performance optimization

What the job involves

  • We’re hiring a Senior Engineering Manager to lead and elevate two mission-critical squads – Dashboard and Growth
  • In this role, you’ll balance deep technical judgment with high-impact leadership, uniting strategic vision with scalable execution
  • You’ll enable teams to build decisive product experiences that drive adoption, retention, and value realization – from intuitive onboarding flows to high-scale analytics that power mission-critical decisions for our customers
  • This is not just a people-management role – this is a hands-on leadership role for someone who sets a high bar for execution, moves teams forward with urgency, and influences technical direction through strong judgment and partnership with senior engineers
  • Lead the effort to create delightful, product-led growth experiences that turn trial users into loyal customers. Your team will define and build:
  • Onboarding flows and PLG conversion milestones
  • Product engagement features (e.g., “aha moments” like Recipe builders, interactive walkthroughs)
  • Feature discovery mechanisms that accelerate value realization
  • Oversee the engineering of Fingerprint’s core customer console – the analytics and control center customers use to:
  • Monitor device signals and fraud risk
  • Configure account settings and detection rules
  • Understand performance, adoption, and operational health
  • You’ll empower both technical and non-technical customers with performance, clarity, and insight
  • Coach, mentor, and grow engineers across two squads
  • Set and uphold a high performance bar, addressing underperformance directly while creating clarity around expectations and outcomes
  • Drive teams to operate with speed and focus, ensuring scope, sequencing, and tradeoffs are well understood and intentionally made
  • Partner deeply with Product, Design, and GTM teams to translate roadmap vision into reality
  • Ensure timely delivery of high-quality features while balancing scale, stability, and performance
  • Provide architectural and technical guidance without micro-managing
  • Help the team navigate complexity by pushing for simplicity, clarity, and maintainable solutions
  • Participate in architectural discussions, occasionally code reviews as needed, and tech planning that influence platform scalability and reliability
  • Help teams anticipate and address challenges around scale – both in traffic and in product complexity – ensuring onboarding flows and dashboards remain performant and dependable as usage grows
  • Balance urgency with quality by helping teams make pragmatic decisions without over-engineering or unnecessary delays
  • Be a visible bridge between engineering and stakeholders across the organization
  • Distill technical tradeoffs into effective business decisions and clearly communicate rationale
  • What Success Looks Like in the First 6 Months:
  • Teams are shipping consistently with high quality and predictable delivery
  • Engineers have clear ownership, strong technical standards, and a bias toward action
  • The Dashboard and Growth squads operate with urgency while maintaining reliability and scalability
  • You’ve raised the bar on execution, estimation accuracy, and technical decision-making
  • Product and Engineering move as a tight unit, with fewer surprises and faster iteration

Benefits

  • Competitive salary: We offer competitive salaries and equity because we believe all employees should own a part of Fingerprint.
  • Flexible Time Off: To prioritize work-life balance, we even have a minimum vacation days target to encourage everyone gets the rest they need.
  • Remote-first: We work asynchronously and respect time-zone differences. Choose where and when you do your work best.
  • Tech: We hook you up with a MacBook so you can do your best work (you get to keep it after 4 years).
  • Culture: We're a small team with a lean hierarchy where you can make a real impact in shaping the company culture. Come grow with us!
  • Fun: We meet up as a company once a year (We went to Mexico City in 2023!) and teams meet up in smaller groups throughout the year.
  • Grow With Us: We want you to grow with us, so we offer a $600 yearly budget that you can spend to learn new stuff.
  • Personal Development: We give you the freedom to grow and experiment. Work on open-source projects and try new things and ideas.
