Job Description

Our mission

We're making Africa the first cashless continent.

In 2017, over half the population in Sub-Saharan Africa had no bank account. That's for good reason—the fees are too high, the closest branch can be miles away, and nobody takes cards.

Without access to financial institutions, people are forced to keep their savings under the mattress. Small business owners rely on lenders who charge extortionate rates. Parents spend hours waiting in line to pay school fees in cash.

We're solving this by building financial services that just work: no account fees, instantly available, and accepted everywhere. In places where electricity, water, and roads don't always work, you can still send money with Wave.

In 2017, we launched a mobile app in Senegal for cash deposit, withdrawal, and peer-to-peer and business payments. Now, we have millions of users across 9 countries and are growing fast.

Our goal is to make Africa the first cashless continent, and that's where you come in...

How You’ll Help Us Achieve It

Wave is seeking an HR Systems Analyst to help us implement our new HRIS and scale our people technology infrastructure. We’re looking for someone who is excited about solving complex technical challenges in a high-growth fintech environment.

The HR Systems Analyst will report to the HR Systems lead within the HR Technology team. In this role, you'll act as a bridge between our People team’s needs and our technical capabilities, configuring systems to handle the complexity of multi-country operations, different regulatory environments, and varying local requirements.

In this role, you’ll be responsible for:

Supporting Our HRIS Migration

  • We are migrating to a new HRIS platform in 2026, and this role will play a critical part in the new system configuration (ensuring we receive or have full context on the new system configuration from the vendor) and data migration (extracting, transforming, loading data, quality checks, testing).
  • This will require you to build an in-depth knowledge of our existing processes and data sources, ensuring as much continuity as possible while advising on minimizing interruptions to ongoing operations and providing a seamless user transition.
  • Configure and customize pre-mapped processes and workflows within the new HRIS to ensure compliance across policies.

Providing Core HR Systems Support

  • Implementing new systems and workflows or adapting existing ones according to our ongoing prioritization and roadmap, such as:
    • Helping us roll out and scale an internal service desk
    • Tracking adherence to and identifying deviations from established processes and policies
  • Analyzing HR Systems workflows and setups to recommend improvements, specifically in reducing manual or duplicated efforts and increasing automation across systems.
  • Supporting anticipated system migrations and integrations in our Talent Management, Workforce Management, and Payroll systems, amongst others.
  • Overseeing system upgrades, patches, and testing to ensure seamless functionality when any of our HR Systems issue updates or patches.
  • Training HR team members and end-users on HRIS functionalities and updates.
  • Acting as a primary point of contact for troubleshooting system issues and providing technical support.

Driving Our HR Data Management and Reporting Quality Projects

  • Ensuring our HRIS data quality project is running smoothly by managing stakeholder relationships across all of our HR, Talent, and Payroll teams.
  • Replicating data quality projects across all HR Systems to ensure the same data quality standards from our HRIS are used consistently. Conducting audits to identify and resolve data discrepancies.
  • Expanding data quality projects into strategic dashboards or reporting that can support HR and Business decision-making, in particular linking performance and learning data.
  • Managing data privacy and compliance with GDPR, CCPA, or other applicable regulations.

Upholding and Strengthening Our Compliance and Risk Management Approaches

  • Monitoring and enforcing compliance with local, state, and international HR data regulations.
  • Maintaining documentation for system configurations, processes, and troubleshooting guides.

Key Details

  • This is a fully remote role. Candidates must be based in one of our talent hub countries (UK, Spain, Kenya, and Ghana) or in one of our operating markets in Africa, including Senegal, Côte d'Ivoire, or Burkina Faso. You can work between UTC -1 and +3 with reliable Internet access, as long as you have work authorization.
  • Every year, you’ll travel to Africa for a one-week immersion trip. (Wave covers all costs.)
  • Our salaries are competitive and are calculated using a transparent formula. For this role, depending on your level and location, we offer a salary of $66,400 - $75,800 plus a generous equity package.
  • Major benefits:
    • Subsidized health insurance for you and your dependents and retirement contributions (both vary from country to country)
    • 6 months fully paid parental leave and subsidized fertility assistance
    • Unlimited vacation with a 20-day minimum requirement
    • $10,000 annual charitable donation matching

  • 3+ years of experience administering HRIS platforms in an organization with +5,000 employees.
  • Experience managing HR systems across a variety of modules, including Talent Management, HCM, Compensation, and L&D.
    • Experience with Workday required.
  • Experience and understanding of HR processes, including payroll, benefits, performance management, talent operations, and acquisition, learning & development.
  • Experience with end-to-end HRIS implementations, upgrades, and integrations.
  • Proficiency in HRIS configuration workflows and reporting tools.
  • Advanced knowledge of data management, analytics, and reporting.
  • Experience with Business Intelligence systems like PowerBI or Looker.
