Who you are

• The candidate will need to have solid accounting skills, and be experienced with French GAAP as well as with US GAAP and/or IFRS

• Master’s degree (BAC + 5) in Finance and/or French CPA (DCG/DSCG)
• Several years experience with an emphasis on accounting, partly gained within one of the 'Big4' and preferably combined with an experience of working for a medium to large international company, in a fast-paced and changing environment
• Deep knowledge of FR/BE GAAP as well as US GAAP or IFRS, statutory filings and the related legal and tax requirements
• Demonstrated history of solving multiple and complex accounting and operational challenges and excellent analytical skills
• Detail-oriented yet able to reflect on and understand the big picture
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Fluent in both business English and French
• Proactive, and results-driven, able to correctly set priorities and meet challenging deadlines
• Being a strong team player, who can operate globally, cross-functionally and at all levels of the organization, taking ownership and demonstrating self-initiative
• Experienced ERP user (ideally Oracle), proficiency with Microsoft Office tools
• Exposure to advanced finance technologies, AI-driven analytics, and process automation
• A natural curiosity for identifying process improvements and the drive to explore and implement scalable solutions
• Professional accounting certification

What the job involves

• Amazon's French accounting team is currently looking for a Finance Manager, reporting to the Senior Finance Manager to join for a permanent position in its team of 8 persons in charge of controllership of the French entities covering all activities of the Group in France and Belgium (retail, AWS, devices, etc.)
• In a fast-paced environment, he or she will be working cross-functionally and have regular interaction with other key finance and business partners in France, Belgium and globally
• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual closing activities for French and Belgian entities, ensuring compliance with local statutory requirements and maintaining accuracy across complex multi-entity reporting
• Conduct comprehensive analytical reviews of balance sheets and income statements in both US GAAP and local GAAP standards, identifying trends and providing actionable insights to support business decisions
• Prepare statutory accounts and support tax compliance initiatives while analyzing complex accounting issues and developing technical position papers for French/Belgian GAAP and US GAAP applications
• Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to maintain efficient processes and effective controls, actively participating in international improvement initiatives and process standardization efforts
• Drive automation and process improvements by demonstrating strong understanding of financial accounting systems and collaborating closely with IT teams to implement best practices and streamline operations
• A day in the life:
• You'll start your day reviewing month-end close progress across multiple French and Belgian entities, analyzing variance reports and coordinating with local teams to resolve discrepancies
• Your afternoon might involve preparing technical accounting memos for complex transactions, collaborating with auditors on compliance matters, or working with IT teams to enhance automated reporting processes. You'll regularly engage with global finance partners, contributing to strategic initiatives while ensuring local regulatory requirements are met with precision and efficiency
