Are you excited to turn classroom theory into consumer product reality through hands-on circuit design, prototyping, debugging, and testing? If so, you could be one of the talented students joining our Electronics Engineering team, where creativity and technology combine to redefine the future of play.
Start date
February 2027
Length
5 months (until end of June 2027) with possibilities for summer extension
About Us
Creative Play Lab is an ambitious, future‑focused innovation hub inventing radical new play opportunities and never‑seen‑before experiences for LEGO® fans of today and tomorrow. We grow the boundaries of what play can become, using bold experimentation, advanced technologies, and deep insight into how kids play to imagine meaningful, next‑generation experiences. Our mix of creatives, innovators, researchers, engineers, and technologists rapidly transforms curiosity into tangible concepts, redefining the future of play and ensuring LEGO® play remains at the forefront of creativity and joyful exploration.
As an intern in our Electronics Engineering team, you’ll work with colleagues across electronics, mechanical engineering, mechatronics, and firmware to develop and test playable technical prototypes.
About Our Internship
In Creative Play Lab, we look for interns who bring something genuinely different to our innovation hub, adding fresh cultural insight, creative energy, and new ways of thinking. Your time with us will span personal curiosity projects, team capability-building initiatives, toy engineering and innovation missions. Every day is different and you’ll learn directly from a world‑class multidisciplinary team as you build your craft, embracing ambiguity as you discover new technical elements for new play experiences.
Meet the Electronics Engineering team
The Electronics Engineering team designs, prototypes, debugs, and evaluates electronic systems that enable new play experiences. The team uses printed circuit boards, sensors, lab equipment, electrical design tools, and close cross-functional collaboration to turn early ideas into integrated, testable prototypes.
Internship Eligibility
To qualify for this internship opportunity, you must meet all of the following criteria
- You are over the age of 18
- You will be enrolled in higher education as a ‘student’ for the full duration of the internship period
- You are currently due to graduate at some point after the end of the internship period

- Electrical schematics and printed circuit board layouts
- Electrical design software such as Altium Designer, OrCAD, or KiCad
- Analog and digital building blocks, including passive components, transistors, op amps, logic gates, and clocks
- Communication protocols such as I2C, SPI, or UART
- Breaking technical challenges into fundamental electrical building blocks for root-cause analysis
What We’re Looking For
Curiosity Our teams thrive on a playful curiosity in all they do. You need to be always asking questions, seeking the reason “why”, digging for answers even when it’s hard and never stop wondering “what if...”
Bravery Our organization is a huge place full of different people and different perspectives. You need to be comfortable meeting new people every day, speaking up when you disagree, receiving feedback, facing the unknowns of innovation head on and forging yourself a path when things aren’t well defined.
Focus Our workload and priorities are always changing. You need to be happy shifting priorities fast, focusing on a high-priority task one week, then focusing on developing your own independent curiosities the next.
Teamwork Our best ideas come when we have an amazing rapport with our colleagues and when we collaborate in a respectful and energising way. You need to be at home bouncing ideas off others and building upon the unique contributions and perspectives of your colleagues to create something bigger and better than the sum of its parts. You also need to be encouraging, supportive and empathetic to the fact that different teammates will have different viewpoints and opinions.
Responsibilities
We want you to bring all your energy, enthusiasm and experience to work every day so we can achieve amazing things together while you learn along the way. Some of your typical responsibilities could include...
- Support senior engineers in the design and test of printed circuit boards, including debugging and measuring the performance of electronic subsystems
- Assist with root-cause investigations by debugging circuits, gathering sensor data, and performing bench tests of features that are critical to play
- Partner with Electronics, Mechanical, Mechatronics, and Firmware teams to design protocols for testing system integration
- Take initiative by proactively identifying tasks in alignment with project goals
- Communicate technical findings, test procedures, and project milestones to the broader engineering team
Perks
- Receive direct support from senior electrical engineers as you transition from classroom theory to consumer product reality
- Work with a passionate team of engineers and technologists across global design hubs in Denmark, London, and Singapore
- Build your professional network in a culture where personal development and collaboration are core values
