Data Center Technician - Technical IT 2 (contract)

Please note that this is a contract role providing services to Microsoft through external staffing partners of Allegis Global Solutions (AGS). If you are selected for this role, you will be employed by AGS and will not be an employee of Microsoft.

Role Summary This is a hands-on data center operations role supporting servers, network equipment, and hardware infrastructure. The technician will install, maintain, troubleshoot, upgrade, and decommission IT equipment while following established procedures and safety standards. The role is ideal for candidates with hardware support experience, field technician experience, desktop support, or entry-level data center experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, stage, rack, and cable servers, hard drives, switches, and related equipment.

• Perform equipment startup and shutdown activities.

• Verify cabling, labelling, grounding, and hardware setup are completed correctly.

• Troubleshoot hardware issues and replace failed components.

• Conduct basic hardware refreshes and upgrades

• Memory upgrades

• Hardware replacements

• OS rebuilds

• Follow deployment checklists and standard operating procedures.

• Escalate technical issues to senior datacentre leads when necessary.

• Maintain accurate documentation and status updates.

• Adhere to strict safety procedures and PPE requirements.

Must-Have Skills Technical

• Basic computer hardware knowledge
• Understanding of servers and IT components
• Experience supporting IT equipment or technology hardware
• Basic troubleshooting skills
• Ability to identify and replace faulty hardware components

Experience

• Minimum 1 year of:

• IT support

• Desktop support

• Field technician work

• Server support

• Hardware repair

• Network equipment support

• Microsoft Outlook
• Microsoft Excel
• Microsoft Word

Other Requirements

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
• Able to work flexible schedules if required
• Comfortable working in a physical data center environment
• Supplier-provided Windows 11 compatible laptop required

• Rack and stack experience
• Server deployment experience
• Network cabling experience
• Hardware break/fix experience

Additional Details

• Location: Dublin 22, Dublin, Ireland
• Duration: 3 months 10 days
• Shift Timings: Monday – Friday (business hours between 7AM and 7PM)
• Flexibility: Willingness to accommodate non-traditional work schedules, which may include evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Pay Range: €27 - €31/hr (PAYE)
• Weekly Schedule: 40 hours
