About The Job
Google’s technical infrastructure is a global network of data centers and fiber-optic cables. Our team promotes and defends Google’s technical infrastructure story. As part of the AI and Infrastructure (AI2) Comms Team in Global Communications and Public Affairs (GCPA), it’s our job to help inform and educate customers, partners, opinion leaders and our own employees about the benefits of our products, our company culture and values, and our approach to the big public policy issues of the day. To succeed here, you'll need to combine creativity with organizational skills and manage numerous projects to tight deadlines simultaneously, as well as enjoy pitching to journalists, bloggers and commentators. Things happen quickly at Google, and you’ll need to be an enthusiastic team player, who can work cross-functionally, and someone who isn't afraid to take risks or try new things.
As a key member of the AI2 Communications team, you will work cross-functionally to help shape our communications strategy for Google’s infrastructure in Europe. You will educate the market on the economic, social and technological benefits of the physical infrastructure powering Google’s products and services around the world, driving stories at the local, regional and global levels. Additionally, you'll maintain strong relationships with journalists and influencers; develop written materials and campaigns; create new programs and counter misinformation that interferes with our business and ability to serve our customers and users. A major part of the role is collaborating with executives across the organization, bringing a deep understanding of the technologies and policies impacting the industry today.
Responsibilities
- Drive the global external communications strategy for Google’s infrastructure in key markets in the Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region, including data centers and subsea cables.
- Develop, write, and edit compelling communications materials, including statements, story pitches, and announcements.
- Act as a trusted advisor and thought partner to key business partners.
- Cultivate media and partner relationships to drive awareness, excitement, and factual reporting about Google’s global infrastructure.
- Manage crisis communications scenarios, think creatively, take smart risks, and address tough issues as they arise.
