Application Builder, Ring Application Services

Description The Ring team is looking for a passionate and talented Software Development Engineer who has experience building world-class Android mobile apps, and the ability to build scalable cloud-based services. You will be responsible for developing mobile applications and cloud services that interact seamlessly with our devices and delight our customers.

The ideal candidate is a full stack engineer who can work across mobile, back-end, and cloud infrastructure to deliver high-quality, end-to-end solutions.

You will join a team that owns the most important place in the Ring - Setup experience. This is a great opportunity to shape the setup process experience for millions of users.

Key job responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain our Android mobile applications
• Develop and maintain backend services, APIs, and micro-services.
• Work with team members to investigate design approaches, prototype technology and evaluate technical feasibility
• Implement robust and maintainable code with clear and maintained documentation.
• Own the features, from conception to launch
• Deliver customer value in iterative fashion while working towards longer term systems to solve roadmap goals with increasing efficiency.
• Communicate status and changes to the work they are responsible and accountable for, keep all stakeholders informed of changes and updates to original plan.
• Implement test automation on all code implemented through unit testing and integration testing.
• Leverage generative AI tools and techniques to enhance development productivity, code quality, and system design while maintaining security and compliance standards.

You will work across teams to prototype ideas and solve complex problems, and raise the bar of our applications by advocating and driving software best practices, automating tasks and identifying pitfalls. About The Team Working on exciting new features and fully owning some of the most visited and core experiences in the Ring app, our team is always looking to learn and innovate. We frequently collaborate with cloud, firmware and other mobile teams to solve problems, come up with solutions and delight our customers. We are data driven, value and promote ownership, working backwards from our customers to bring them an innovative and seamless home security experience.

Basic Qualifications

• Experience in professional, non-internship software development
• Experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems
• Android mobile application development experience in Kotlin

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
• Experience with full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
• Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design
