Job Description
Personio's intelligent HR platform helps small and medium-sized organizations unlock the power of people by making complicated, time-consuming tasks simple and efficient. Our team of 1,500 Personios is building user-friendly products that delight our 15,000+ customers and their 1.5 million employees. Ready to make an impact from day one? This role requires 3 days per week in the office and is based in Dublin, London, Munich or Berlin. Working in HR within an organization that builds market-leading HR technology solutions offers a unique opportunity. As valued partners at Personio and thought leaders in the HR industry, our People team not only powers the growth of our company but also directly influences the future of the industry.
You'll be the People Team's AI & automation manager and product manager in one, reporting to the Head of People Systems: deciding what's worth building across a growing portfolio of People automations, building it, getting it adopted, and keeping it running. You'll work closely with our People teams, watching how a process actually runs, then building the agents, automations, internal tools and Claude skills that remove the manual step, and partnering with Personio's Internal AI team when a solution needs central hosting. This is a role for a genuinely technical operator who writes code, works with APIs and maintains what they build independently, and you don't need an HR background to do it.
What You'll Do
- AI & automation roadmap: You own a prioritised, costed roadmap of what's worth automating in how the People Team works, sequenced against what can be delivered and kept running, and reviewed with People leadership.
- Idea intake & prioritisation: You run the process for reviewing, shaping and prioritising new AI and automation ideas from across the People Team, so the best ones get built and the rest get a clear answer.
- Process discovery: You build a working understanding of where People Team time actually goes, down to individual tasks, handoffs and the manual workarounds nobody documents.
- Building with AI: You build the agents, automations and internal tools the People Team runs on, using Claude skills, Cowork workflows, n8n, scripts and MCP-based integrations into Personio, Slack and other systems.
- Portfolio ownership: You own the live portfolio well past launch, including solutions colleagues have built, so what ships today is still running a year from now.
- Enabling People Team builders: You provide patterns, reviews and hands-on support that help colleagues across the People Team build their own automations safely and well.
- Measurement: You instrument solutions well enough to show what they saved, and retire them when they stop earning their keep.
- Adoption: You make sure automations get used in people's real workflows, working through the resistance that comes with changing a daily routine.
- Governance by design: You apply data classification, acceptable use, security standards and GDPR from the start, and bring AI use cases through the People Team's review process.
- Partnering with Internal AI: You hand off solutions that need central hosting to Personio's Internal AI team, and bring People use cases into the wider internal AI operating system.
What You Need To Succeed
- 3+ years in an operational business function: You've worked in or directly alongside a function such as customer support, GTM, operations or People, with real credibility in how that kind of work gets done.
- Automation that sticks: You have a track record of taking undocumented workflows and turning them into automation that stayed in use.
- Backlog and roadmap ownership: You've prioritised competing requests, said no with a clear rationale, and measured whether what shipped delivered value.
- Python, TypeScript and SQL: You're comfortable writing and reading code to prototype, automate and work with data.
- Connecting AI to real systems: You've built agents, called LLM APIs from your own code, and used MCP connectors or integrations against the tools a function actually uses.
- No-code and low-code platforms: You're hands-on with n8n, Zapier, Make or Cowork.
- Operational hygiene: You keep your own work running with Git and GitHub, sensible credential handling, and the habit of noticing when something has silently broken.
- Bias toward action: You move forward in ambiguity and judge yourself by what gets adopted.
- AI fluency: You use AI coding agents such as Claude Code in your daily work to build faster, with the judgment to know when to rely on their output and when to step in yourself.
Nice to Have
- Process improvement or business analysis experience, or involvement in a transformation programme.
- Familiarity with Personio or other core People systems.
- Experience building Slack apps or agents.
