Job description

About Wolt

At Wolt, we create technology that brings joy, simplicity and earnings to the neighborhoods of the world. In 2014 we started with delivery of restaurant food. Now we’re building the delivery of (almost) everything and you’ll find us in over 500 cities in 30 countries around the world. In 2022 we joined forces with DoorDash and together we keep on dreaming big and expanding across the globe.

Working at Wolt isn’t always easy, but it’s definitely exciting. Here you’ll learn more, build more, and ship more than in most other companies. You’ll be challenged a lot, but also have a lot of fun on the way. So, if you’re a self-starter with drive and entrepreneurial spirit, this could be the ride of your life.

We’re now looking for an Accounts Payable Accountant to support our day-to-day invoice processing and payment preparation. In this role, you’ll assist with Accounts Payable activities across several countries, primarily focusing on our parent company. Your responsibilities will include invoice processing, supplier reconciliations, and helping investigate discrepancies in bookings and payments.

You’ll work closely with experienced, senior colleagues, receiving guidance as you build your accounting knowledge and gradually take ownership of your assigned tasks.

The role is based in Hungary, and you will be working remotely.

What makes the Finance team so special is our ‘service first’ approach. We enjoy creating strong communication loops with the wider business to minimise bottlenecks and get things done quickly and efficiently.

Everybody takes pride in being meticulous and precise. We also enjoy learning and developing as we go, it’s important that you share this approach! :)

What you’ll be doing

  • Process and post supplier invoices and credit notes accurately, following established procedures and approval workflows.
  • Follow up on outstanding invoice approvals to support timely processing and payments.
  • Perform three-way purchase order matching and help investigate discrepancies with internal business stakeholders and external suppliers.
  • Complete payment checks for the Payment Team by verifying invoice approvals, payment details, and payment terms.
  • Assist with supplier statement and AP account reconciliations, identifying outstanding balances, unmatched credit notes, and potential duplicate invoices.
  • Investigate routine invoice and payment queries, escalating complex issues to Senior colleagues and Team Leads.
  • Support month-end and year-end closing by preparing supporting documentation and assisting with accruals, journal entries, and reconciliations under guidance.
  • Monitor overdue invoices, payment blocks, and aging balances, and follow up on assigned items.
  • Assist with internal and external audits by collecting invoices, approvals, and other supporting documentation.
  • Follow internal controls and company policies, including requirements for handling confidential financial information.
  • Keep process documentation up to date and contribute ideas for improving daily workflows.
  • Participate in training and knowledge-sharing activities to develop your AP and accounting skills.

Our humble expectations

  • 1-2 years of experience in Accounts Payable, accounting, finance administration, or a similar role.
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles and an interest in developing a career in Accounts Payable.
  • Working knowledge of MS Excel.
  • Familiarity with NetSuite, Fulfillment Tools, or SAP is a plus.
  • A degree or ongoing studies in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field is advantageous.
  • Fluent in English, both spoken and written.
  • Eligible to work in the EU, Hungary.

Key Competencies

  • High attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to manage assigned tasks and deadlines.
  • Willingness to learn, ask questions, and apply feedback.
  • Basic analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Clear communication and a helpful, service-oriented approach.
  • Ability to work effectively in a remote team and seek guidance when needed.
  • Ownership of assigned tasks and timely escalation of issues.
  • Careful and responsible handling of confidential financial information.
