Bloomberg runs on data. Our products are fueled by powerful information. We combine data and context to paint the whole picture for our clients, around the clock, from around the world. In Data, we are responsible for delivering this data, news, and analytics through innovative technology, quickly and accurately. We apply problem-solving skills to identify workflow efficiencies and implement technology solutions to enhance our systems, products, and processes.
Our Team
Using innovative, collaborative, and client-focused approaches to data extraction, aggregation, and standardization, the Sustainable Finance Data team is responsible for enhancing ESG content for Bloomberg Terminal and Enterprise products. This includes company-reported and normalized metrics, industry-specific metrics, proprietary ESG scores, climate and regulatory data.
Our Sustainable Finance data is displayed alongside fundamental data, backed by news for context, and powers a growing suite of sustainable finance products used by investors, corporations, regulators, and financial institutions globally.
What’s the role?
The Sustainable Finance Data team is seeking an experienced leader to head the Sustainable Finance Data Governance & Controls team in Dublin.
You will lead Bloomberg's Sustainable Finance Data Governance & Controls team, responsible for the operational delivery, rated entity engagement, data quality, and regulatory compliance of ESG scores and related products. Working across Product, Engineering, Data Management, Compliance, Legal, and Risk, you will help build Bloomberg's center of excellence for regulated ESG operations in Europe while driving automation, operational scalability, and regulatory resilience.
This is a unique opportunity to help define Bloomberg's approach to regulated ESG products as Sustainable Finance regulations continue to evolve.
We’ll trust you to:
- Lead, develop, and inspire a team responsible for the operational delivery, data quality, and regulatory compliance of ESG scores and related products.
- Design and manage scalable operating models, workflows, and controls that support the production, maintenance, and governance of regulated ESG products.
- Lead Bloomberg's scoring entity operational model, including notifications, disclosures, inquiries, complaints handling, and regulated data service delivery in line with applicable regulations.
- Establish and monitor data quality standards, operational metrics, and service-level objectives, driving accountability and continuous improvement across the team.
- Foster a culture of operational excellence and regulatory rigor, ensuring the team understands ESG methodologies sufficiently to support high-quality operational delivery and client interactions.
- Partner with Product, Engineering, and Data Management teams to design and implement automation, tooling, and workflow enhancements that improve efficiency, scalability, and operational resilience.
- Drive the transformation of regulated data products operations through AI, workflow automation, and scalable operational controls, reducing manual effort while maintaining regulatory compliance and auditability.
- Translate regulatory requirements into operational processes, controls, reporting frameworks, and governance practices that support compliance with existing and emerging Sustainable Finance regulations.
- Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate operational and regulatory risks, ensuring timely resolution of incidents, data quality issues, and control gaps.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with senior stakeholders across Compliance, Legal, Risk, Audit, Product, Engineering, Enterprise Data, and Sustainable Finance leadership to ensure alignment on regulatory obligations, operational priorities, and long-term strategy.
- Oversee the execution of regulatory reporting, evidence collection, complaints management, and control documentation activities required to support audits, examinations, and internal governance processes.
- Leverage operational, quality, and performance metrics to identify trends, prioritize improvements, and communicate business outcomes to senior stakeholders.
- Drive strategic transformation initiatives that reduce manual effort, enhance transparency, and strengthen Bloomberg's regulatory operating model for ESG scores and related products.
- This role will play a key part in establishing Dublin as Bloomberg's operational hub for regulated Sustainable Finance products, helping define the future operating model for ESG scores, regulatory products, and AI-enabled data operations.
You’ll need to have:
-
Minimum of 3+ years of experience in a leadership role, or strong relevant experience as an individual contributor leading complex projects or operational initiatives, with demonstrated ability to influence outcomes across cross-functional stakeholders.
-
Proven experience managing data operations at scale, including data quality oversight, workflow management, issue resolution, and delivery against business and regulatory requirements.
-
Strong analytical and technical skills, including confidence working with complex datasets, operational metrics, and tools such as SQL to investigate issues, perform root-cause analysis, and quantify impact.
-
Experience implementing and maintaining data governance, quality control, and operational control frameworks to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of data products.
-
Proven track record designing, implementing, and improving workflows in regulated environments, including process simplification, control design, exception management, and automation.
-
Experience partnering with Product and Engineering teams to translate business and regulatory requirements into scalable operational processes, tooling, and system enhancements.
-
Ability to navigate evolving regulatory landscapes while balancing competing priorities, managing operational and regulatory risk, and driving timely resolution of incidents and emerging issues.
-
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence senior partners and clearly communicate operational strategy, data quality objectives, and regulatory requirements to both technical and non-technical audiences.
-
Please note: years of experience are a guide; we will consider applications from all candidates who can demonstrate the skills necessary for the role.
We’d love to see:
