Job Description

Who you are

  • 8+ years of experience as a software engineer developing user-facing applications
  • Fluency working with product metrics, designing and analyzing experiments with exposure to tools like BigQuery, HEX, Firebase, etc
  • Software development experience in Kotlin for Android, familiarity with GraphQL
  • Experience leveraging GenAI tools to increase software engineering productivity
  • Experience working with ML engineering teams and integrating ML solutions is a plus
  • Strong organizational skills, the ability to prioritize tasks and keep projects on schedule for the team
  • BS degree in Computer Science, similar technical field of study, or equivalent practical experience
  • Strong focus on user experience and usability. You are an undying advocate for the user, and you have a deep intuition for how people think and how they interact with software. Experience with social is a huge plus
  • Entrepreneurial spirit. You must be self-directed, innovative, and biased towards action. You live to build new things and thrive in ambiguity
  • Excellent communication skills. You must be able to collaborate with teams in a fully remote environment, and discuss complex topics with technical and non-technical audiences

What the job involves

  • The Home Experience team is responsible for one of the highest traffic pages on the platform: the Home feed on the Reddit apps and website
  • Home is both a destination and entrypoint for almost all Reddit journeys, and we know a smooth, intuitive, and delightful experience is critical to Reddit’s success and appeal
  • You’ll be working with the immense scale of hundreds of millions of users to help them explore Reddit and provide them with excellent feeds
  • Be the technical lead for a high-caliber, inclusive team of engineers across the organization
  • Work cross-functionally, collaborate and partner with product, design, and other engineering counterparts to design and build novel products and features that our users will love
  • Work alongside a team of thoughtful, fast-moving, and motivated engineers. Drive step-function improvements in developer workflows, implement best practices, and mentor engineers across the organization.
  • Participate in the full development cycle: design, development, test, experimentation, analysis, and launch. You’ll be writing and reviewing code and design docs, giving feedback on product specs and mocks, and ensuring successful delivery of key projects
  • You will be a main driver in the planning, development, and implementation across Reddit’s Android architecture in conjunction with numerous partner teams, identifying and delivering on major opportunities
  • Enable a culture of metrics led execution, with a focus on operational excellence and system observability
  • Partner cross-functionally and with senior leadership on our strategic roadmap, driving engineering and product bets that will bring Home to the next level
