Software Engineer II, GenAI Safety, Google Core

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 1 year of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript).
• 1 year of experience with full stack development, across back-end such as Java, Python, GO, or C++ codebases, and front-end experience including JavaScript or TypeScript, HTML, CSS or equivalent.
• 1 year of experience with data structures and algorithms.

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience with data processing tools (e.g. SQL).
• Familiarity with machine learning concepts.
• Knowledge of AI driven development.
• Ability to learn and contribute to building systems at scale.
• Interest in anti-abuse systems, fraud detection, or security.

Responsibilities

• Develop, test, and maintain components of our account-centric abuse detection systems on the GenAI Safety Platform, with guidance from executive team members.
• Implement and refine classification models and rules to identify policy-violating and abusive behavior, leveraging account-level signals.
• Write and test production-quality code, participating in code reviews, and incorporating feedback.
• Collaborate with other engineers to integrate detection systems with enforcement mechanisms.
• Analyze data to help understand abuse patterns and contribute to the effectiveness of our detection methods.
