Software Development Engineer

Who you are

• Experience (non-internship) in professional software development
• Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
• Experience with full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
• You want to build the systems that keep millions of packages moving on time across Amazon's transportation network

What the job involves

• We are looking for a Software Development Engineer to help us design, build, and operate the production infrastructure behind a system that tells fulfillment centers and trucks exactly how fast packages should flow — every hour, across thousands of routes
• In this role, you will own software that processes dozens of complex inputs, transforms them into reliable signals, and delivers them to systems that make real-time decisions about when packages ship, when trucks depart, and how capacity is allocated across the network
• You will write production-quality code in Python, design event-driven architectures on AWS, build automated quality validation frameworks, and solve distributed systems challenges that directly impact operational performance at Amazon scale
