Job Description
Who you are
- Experience (non-internship) in professional software development
- Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
- Experience with full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
What the job involves
- Database Migration for Amazon RDS is fully managed, serverless capability that enables customers to migrate SQL Server/Oracle workloads - whether running on Amazon RDS, Amazon EC2, on-premises infrastructure, or other cloud providers - to Amazon RDS for PostgreSQL and Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL
- Customers simply provide source and target connection details, and the service orchestrates the entire migration lifecycle end-to-end: pre-migration assessment, schema conversion, data movement
- In addition to a traditional console-driven experience, the service introduces an agentic migration workflow
- Customers can initiate and manage migrations through natural language within the developer tools they already use - such as Kiro, Claude Code, Cursor, or Codex
- The AI agent assesses the source environment, converts the schema, moves the data, validates the outcome - removing friction and reducing the expertise required to complete complex database migrations
- Design and implement scalable, serverless microservices that power the migration lifecycle - assessment, schema conversion, data movement
- Build agentic workflows that integrate with developer tools (Kiro, Claude Code, Cursor, Codex) and enable natural language-driven database migrations
- Own operational excellence for your components: define SLAs, build dashboards, create runbooks, and drive root-cause analysis during incidents
- Contribute to system architecture decisions, write design documents, and participate in code reviews that raise the quality bar for the team
- Collaborate cross-functionally with solution architects, product managers, and partner teams (RDS, Aurora, AI/ML) to deliver customer-facing features
- Mentor SDE Is through code reviews, design guidance, and pair programming
- Participate in on-call rotations and operational excellence initiatives
- You might start the day with participating in a design review for a new feature: parallel data movement for multi-terabyte databases
- You whiteboard trade-offs between consistency guarantees and throughput, debating how to minimize downtime during cutover windows. Later, you pair with a teammate to debug a race condition in the serverless orchestration layer that surfaces only under high concurrency
- You'll join a team of curious, driven engineers who believe that technical excellence and world-class reliability are not aspirations - they are the baseline our customers deserve. If you want to build something that matters, alongside people who challenge and inspire you, this is the place
- This is a rare opportunity to design and operate systems at true cloud scale while developing deep expertise across three of the most transformative domains in modern engineering: cloud computing, database technologies, and artificial intelligence
