Job Description
Description Our operations network, known for its speed, accuracy, and exceptional service, delivers millions of packages to Amazon customers every day. To keep our operations network secure and ensure operational continuity, we are looking for a proven senior leader to join our team as Senior Manager, Investigations. In this critical role, you will provide strategic leadership and direction for a multi-regional, international investigative pillar within Amazon's Worldwide Operations Security (WWOS) organization.
You will own the end-to-end performance, capability, and direction of an organizationally layered team comprising Senior Investigations Managers, Investigations Experts, and Investigations Specialists across multiple geographies - setting the strategic vision for your pillar and partnering with the most senior leaders across Amazon to protect our people, operations, and customers at scale.
Key job responsibilities
- Define and drive the strategic direction of your investigative pillar, translating business priorities and emerging threat landscapes into a clear, executable investigative strategy with measurable outcomes across multiple regions and geographies
- Lead, develop, and support an organisationally layered team of Senior Investigations Managers (L6 PM and IC), Investigations Experts (L5), and Investigations Specialists (L4) - setting clear expectations and holding the team accountable for outcomes, including hiring, performance management, succession planning, and organisational design across international boundaries
- Coach, mentor, and develop L6 managers and senior practitioners - fostering the leadership and investigative capability of the tier immediately below you and nurturing a pipeline of future senior talent
- Serve as the most senior investigative escalation point across your pillar, making rapid, consequential decisions on the most critical and sensitive matters - determining scope, directing investigative approach, and allocating resource - while bringing clarity and calm to your team in conditions of significant ambiguity, urgency, and incomplete information
- Build and sustain trusted senior partnerships across Amazon's most important cross-functional stakeholders - Legal, HR, Finance, Operations, Public Policy, Compliance, and Outside Counsel - influencing decisions and outcomes across organisational boundaries without positional authority
- Hold your pillar accountable to the investigative quality frameworks, standards, and compliance requirements defined by Strategic Services, Framework and Enablement (SSFE), while serving as an active and influential voice in their development, iteration, and real-world applicability
- Represent your pillar at the most senior internal and external forums, including Quarterly Business Reviews, executive briefings, and law enforcement or regulatory engagement
- Identify systemic risks, emerging threat patterns, and structural vulnerabilities across the supply chain within your pillar; translate analytical insight into strategic recommendations for senior leadership and the business
- Shape the culture of your investigative pillar - instilling standards of integrity, rigour, and accountability that reflect the expectations of a world-class investigations organisation
A day in the life
As Senior Manager, Investigations, you will be the most senior investigations leader within your pillar, accountable for the performance, strategy, and direction of a multi-regional, internationally deployed investigative organization. You will operate at the intersection of senior people leadership, strategic escalation, and enterprise partnership - developing leaders, driving investigative standards, and shaping how investigations are conducted across your pillar.
