Job Description
Meta is looking for a Research Scientist to join its Fundamental AI Research (FAIR) organization, within Meta Superintelligence Labs. Our team has a track record of pushing the frontier in multilingual communication. Recent examples include the Seamless family of live interaction models, or the Omnilingual ASR models covering thousands of languages.We are looking for a Research Scientist to join our efforts on addressing the fundamental problem of knowledge transfer across languages. Researchers on our team will have the opportunity to improve frontier models, collaborate with a highly interdisciplinary team of scientists and engineers, and see the downstream application of their work into products connecting billions of users.
Research Scientist, Omni-lingual (FAIR) Responsibilities:
- Directly contribute to experiments to push forward multilingual capabilities in frontier multilingual language models
- Work with large data, and contribute to development of large scale foundation models
- Drive software design, implementation and evaluation of research solutions
- Help identify long-term ambitious research goals as well as intermediate milestones
- Influence progress of relevant research communities by producing publications
- Work with a large and globally distributed team spanning several expertise areas (research, engineering, linguistics, data science, data engineering)
Minimum Qualifications:
- PhD degree in Artificial Intelligence (AI), computer science, or related technical fields with 1+ years of experience in AI research
- AI research experience in the domains of natural language processing and/or speech processing
- First-author publications at peer-reviewed AI conferences (e.g. ACL, EMNLP, Interspeech, ICASSP, ASRU, SLT, NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR)
- Demonstrated experiencein communicating complex research for public audiences or peers
- Experience developing machine learning algorithms in e.g. Python, PyTorch, C/C++
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience in AI research in a university, industry, or government lab
- Significant experience in multilingual AI research
