Job Description
Description Supporting the EU Production Finance team in Spain — as well as other studio operational teams within Amazon Studios' rapidly-expanding EU film and TV production business — you'll be a key part of the financial backbone that keeps projects funded accurately, reported transparently, and managed with precision across multiple currencies and territories. You'll support the rhythm of production finance: helping manage cash flow, validating cost reports, and delivering the insights that keep leadership informed and projects on track. From supporting the onboarding of local accounting teams to helping navigate complex tax incentive landscapes, you'll bring clarity and consistency to a fast-moving, single-market environment with multi-territory reach. You'll partner across Creative, Legal, Business Affairs, and external production companies to help keep payments flowing and financial issues resolved swiftly. And you won't just support the status quo — you'll actively contribute to how the team works, helping build smarter reports, streamline workflows, and codify best practices that raise the bar for production finance across the organization.
Amazon MGM Studios is rapidly expanding its Spanish-language content slate, producing a growing portfolio of original series, feature films, and documentaries from Madrid that reach Prime Video customers in 170+ countries. Spain is one of our fastest-growing European production markets — home to record-breaking franchises like Culpables (100M+ global viewers) and a bold move into theatrical distribution for local originals. The EU Production Finance team supports this growth with the team based in Madrid working across the full production lifecycle — from development financing through final cost close-out — partnering closely with local Creative, Business Affairs, and production partners.
At Amazon, we believe that in-person collaboration is essential to our culture and innovation. While we allow flexibility for personal circumstances, we generally expect employees to work from our offices five days a week. This approach has consistently shown that spontaneous interactions, rapid problem-solving, and the energy of in-person teamwork lead to better results for our customers. In particular, our data shows that teams working together in person are more effective at making complex decisions, onboarding new team members, and fostering the kind of creative collaboration that has driven Amazon's success. The serendipitous hallway conversations and impromptu whiteboarding sessions that happen naturally in an office environment have proven invaluable to our invention process and maintaining our high bar for excellence.
Key job responsibilities
- Support Production Finance operations for Amazon Studios film and television projects in Spain, with flexibility to cover additional territories as needed.
- Manage production funding in multiple currencies, overseeing cash disbursement controls to support production activities and mitigate financial risk.
- Collect, review, and validate monthly financial reporting (cost reports, General Ledger, Trial Balance) for multiple productions on a timely basis, identifying and flagging data inaccuracies.
- Drive month-end close (cash flow, costs, accruals); identify variances, articulate root causes, and communicate findings to leadership.
- Maintain controllership oversight for assigned Spanish productions — ensuring error-free reporting and proactive compliance risk resolution.
- Onboard local production accounting teams during pre-production, ensuring compliance with Studio finance and accounting guidelines.
- Build and maintain excellent working relationships with external production companies.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Creative, Business Affairs, Legal, Accounting, and Production to execute payments and resolve financial issues.
- Refine and maintain production finance metrics and reporting — contributing to executive dashboards, management reporting, and operational KPIs.
- Invent and simplify — improve, scale, or automate processes and tools across teams.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or related field
- Speak, write, and read fluently in Spanish and English at C1 level or above
- Progressive experience in production accounting or production finance (studio or freelance)
- Strong knowledge of the Spanish production industry, including local tax incentives (SITC) and regulatory frameworks
- Proven experience managing production funding and cash flow across multiple currencies
- Demonstrated ability to independently lead financial operations across the full production lifecycle
- Exposure to and agility using new AI tools
Preferred Qualifications
- Understanding of content financing models (pre-sales, gap financing, equity, tax-based structures) and the end-to-end value chain of film and television — from development and production through distribution, licensing, and monetisation
