Role Description As the Area Manager for Portugal, based in Lisbon, you will report to the Regional Director for Southern Europe and lead the Partner Services organisation in the market, helping a diverse portfolio of partners, from independent boutique hotels in Lisbon to large resort chains in the Algarve to grow their businesses through insight-led account management. This pivotal role combines people leadership, commercial judgement, market understanding, and cross-functional influence to drive performance and innovation. You will translate regional strategy into actionable plans, foster a high-performing environment, and act as a key advocate for Booking.com within the Portuguese market.
Key Job Responsibilities and Duties
- Lead and Develop: Coach and guide the Portugal Partner Services team of Market Team Managers and indirectly manage a team of Account Managers and more to build a high-performing, inclusive environment with clear priorities.
- Strategic Execution: Translate regional strategy into a focused, actionable Portugal market plan and monitor progress against objectives.
- Portfolio Management: Capitalize on Portugal's booming year-round tourism by driving portfolio health, partner coverage, and commercial outcomes through data-led prioritisation and targeted interventions. You are responsible for driving revenue growth, increasing property listings and improving partner retention etc.
- Stakeholder Alignment: Build trusted relationships with local partners and collaborate closely with cross-functional stakeholders to solve problems.
- Change Leadership: Lead the team through digital transformation and the rollout of new commercial strategies
Qualifications & Skills
- Leadership Experience: Proven track record in leading commercial, account-management, or partner-services teams, focusing on coaching and performance improvement.
- Commercial Judgement: Strong ability to balance partner value, business impact, and market opportunities, with a highly data-driven approach to decision-making.
- Strategic Execution: Capability to turn strategy into actionable plans, track progress, and adapt to shifting priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Stakeholder Management: Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence peers and senior leaders across global product, public affairs, finance , and customer service teams
- Market Expertise: Deep knowledge of the Portuguese accommodation market and professional fluency in both Portuguese and English.
